Day 6 of the #freedomriders tour, and student Carla Orendorff talks about how the ride has challenged her beyond thinking about MLK Jr.’s teachings to find real-life ways to live her activism. I think that white people of the past and of the present tend to see people of color as invisible, and I realized as a person of color that I’ve done the same thing as a middle class person. I’ve seen poor people as invisible and not been aware of the labor behind the things that I own and consume.
